Man Killed in Industrial Accident on Northwest Side
By Jay Sorgi CREATED Aug. 30, 2011 – UPDATED: Aug. 30, 2011 MILWAUKEE – Authorities have removed the body of a 58-year-old man who died in an industrial accident Tuesday morning. Family members identified the victim as Henry LaFlore. According to Milwaukee Fire Department Deputy Chief Michael Romas, his head was crushed in a press. The accident happened at ASI Technologies on the 5800 block of North 95th Court on the northwest side. Police said it happened at about 5:20 a.m. Structural collapse unit members were working to take the machine off of the victim. “As far as what I know, a machine and cable wire broke and the machine crushed him,” said Marilyn Howell, who told TODAY’S TMJ4 that she was the victim’s sister. It’s the second tragedy their family has endured this year. “It’s hard. It’s hard. We just lost our mother February 24th, so it’s pretty hard on us. It seems like we’re having death after death in the family. It’s hard.” Another friend, George Matthews, called the victim a “dedicated worker,” saying “he had a good heart.” “I talked to him every day. We were real close, since grade school.” According to Matthews, the victim worked there for at least 30 years. “He was my favorite nephew, and this was the biggest shock,” said Mandy Johnson, the victim’s aunt. Milwaukee Police have taken over the investigation
