Jamesburg Woman Killed in Turnpike Crash
4:25 PM, Sep. 15, 2011 | Written by Staff Report SOUTH BRUNSWICK — A 25-year-old Jamesburg woman was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday morning on the New Jersey Turnpike, State Police said. Nicole Gandy, 25, of Jamesburg was traveling northbound in the inner lane of the highway near mile marker 74.5 in South Brunswick in a Ford Explorer at about 7:30 a.m., when the vehicle rolled over, Sgt. Julian Castellanos said. Castellanos said that for unknown reasons the SUV overturned and struck the guardrail. The vehicle continued to travel north and came to an uncontrolled rest in the right lane facing southbound Gandy, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency medical service personnel from Monroe First Aid Squad and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick responded. Gandy was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:59 a.m. by a doctor from the hospital. No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no passengers were in the vehicle, he said. The accident is under investigation, Castellanos said.
