Glassboro Woman Dies in Head-On Rt. 47 Crash
Oct. 4, 2011 | MAURICE RIVER — A head-on collision on Route 47 here late Sunday killed a Glassboro woman, according to New Jersey State Police at the Port Norris Barracks. Linda Gardner, 56, was pronounced dead at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland, following the collision, which happened approximately 11:29 p.m. Gardner was a passenger in a 2001 Hyundai Elantra headed north on Route 47 by Edward Gardner, 58, who lives at the same address as Linda Gardner. Edward Gardner was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with severe injuries. The driver of the other car, Noe Cruz-Castro, 26, of Woodbine suffered moderate injuries and was treated at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center. Charges are pending further investigation, police said. Police said Cruz-Castro crossed the center line while driving south on Route 47 in a 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse, hitting Gardner’s vehicle.
